Xndo Forum: Artificially Enhanced/Flavoured Food and Health
July 14, 2009
Natalie Black
Well it’s nearly Xndo Forum time again…… The next health talk is on Saturday 25th July. I’ll be talking about artificial colours & flavours and what they do to your body. This is another almost unknown subject and it really needs to be heard and understood as to why we should avoid all artificially enhanced or flavoured products (for the sake of our body’s health)
Here is an example of the ingredients necessary to flavour a typical artificial strawberry milkshake, like the kind found in a fast food chain:
- amyl acetate,
- amyl butyrate,
- amyl valerate,
- anethol,
- anisyl formate,
- benzyl acetate,
- benzyl isobutyrate,
- butyric acid,
- cinnamyl isobutyrate,
- cinnamyl valerate,
- cognac essential oil,
- diacetyl,
- dipropyl ketone,
- ethyl acetate,
- ethyl amyl ketone,
- ethyl butyrate,
- ethyl cinnamate,
- ethyl heptanoate,
- ethyl heptylate,
- ethyl lactate,
- ethyl methylphenylglycidate,
- ethyl nitrate,
- ethyl propionate,
- ethyl valerate,
- heliotropin,
- hydroxyphenyl-2-butanone (10 percent solution in alcohol),
- a-ionone,
- isobutyl anthranilate,
- isobutyl butyrate,
- lemon essential oil,
- maltol,
- 4-methylacetophenone,
- methyl anthranilate,
- methyl benzoate,
- methyl cinnamate,
- methyl heptine carbonate,
- methyl naphthyl ketone,
- methyl salicylate,
- mint essential oil,
- neroli essential oil,
- nerolin,
- neryl isobutyrate,
- orris butter,
- phenethyl alcohol,
- rose,
- rum ether,
- g-undecalactone,
- vanillin, and
- solvent
That can’t be healthy for you (and trust me it isn’t) Uncovering the truth will amaze people
On the training front for the SAFRA run - I’m running up to 8km twice a week…. my knees aren’t exactly saying thank-you. Not long now though. Already looking into the next run in September.
